This mosque complex has a registered date of 1551 and generally is believed to be Mimar Sinan’s work. It is located in Eyup, a borough in the grand city of Istanbul. The work seems to be one of Sinan’s experiments where the vaults are used to provide lateral support end buttressing to carry the dome. The dome itself spans about 20 strides. The exterior is made of stone and brick banding, not seen before at this time. This is characteristic of residential architecture and gives the complex its palatial feel.
